Things to Remember

Very soon, we are going to have another baby, and there are things about Marie right at this moment that I don't want to forget.  So, I'm writing them here.

Right now, she explains everything in long, long explanations that involve the word "keepaus" ("because") about 100 times.  She's also into the phrases "happens," "just in case" and "otherwise," which she uses abundantly despite not really knowing what they mean exactly.

She loves raking and digging in the garden with Daddy.  They planted a few vegetables that are already starting to come up.

She is incredibly affectionate toward her baby sister.  Tonight she piled a giant stack of toys, stuffed animals and other "tiny, tiny" things on my lap "for Baby."

She has been thinking about the baby a lot, and seems to be getting a little anxious about the big change coming soon.  But she stays positive and optimistic.  Mostly, I think she's just worried that Mommy's going away.

She puts baby diapers on all of her stuffed animals and dolls, wraps them up, and "bops" them to sleep like we used to do with her (just bouncing her in our arms, not actually bopping her on the head...).  She says, "Dolly sleeping in your arms," which of course means "Dolly sleeping in my arms."  She's a good little Mama.

She has been exclusively wearing undies for about a month now.  No more diapers, folks!  It's amazing.  We still put her in a diaper during naps and at night, just in case, but she hasn't needed one at all--she holds it until she wakes up.  We are so proud of her, and so pleased to be done with diapers before she's two!  She now takes all of her dollys and stuffed animals to the potty to go pee and poop.

She is very musical.  She has started to really enjoy playing her violin (she plays it as a cello because it's still so big for her).  She plays the piano a lot and sings along with it.  She sings ALL DAY, which I absolutely love.  She just makes up random words, mostly to the tune of the ABCs.  She sings her dolly to sleep.  She dances around and hums the ABC tune while she's dancing.  Today on the drive home from Grandma and Grandpa's house, she sang almost the entire way.

She has started calling her grandparents "Grandma" and "Grandpa" instead of "Gaga" and "Papa."

She really, really likes her Uncle Ben.  She thinks that any piece of mail we receive or send is from/to him.

She loves helping Daddy around the house.  He "bang bang bangs" most of the time, and she uses random little gadgets as hammers to do the same.  She recently helped him finish up a couple of amazing shelving projects that I will post about soon!

Other happenings of late:

My lovely friend, Christy, threw me a beautiful baby shower which was perfect.  I can't wait to return the favor in a few months!

My belly is huge and much more round than it was with Marie (she was kind of pointy).  I'm really looking forward to seeing what this little one looks like.

Tony has been finishing household projects like a pro!  We've had a "to do before baby" list and he is checking things off like crazy.  He's amazing.

Spring has sprung here!  It's been beautiful, warm, sunny and the trees are all in bloom.
