For Memorial Day we headed to the Oregon Coast with my parents for a little rest and relaxation. We wanted to "get away" but Marie's general hatred of the car (which is possibly getting better) left us with few options. So my mom did a little research and found us a great place to stay, and the five of us had a lovely little weekend adventure.
Marie had been to the coast once before but she was only two months old and slept the whole time in the Ergo. So this was a very exciting new experience for her and we couldn't have timed it better. She was amazed by the ocean. She loved the sand. She was invigorated by the wide open beach. It was so much fun for all of us! As I've said before, one of the best parts of being a parent is watching your little one discover the world around them, and this was a weekend of big discovery.
The hotel we stayed at was beautiful--tucked away in the coastal woods, old and charming. Tony and I were able to have a nice date at the restaurant and enjoyed delicious seafood while we talked without distraction! The setting, the company, the weather--it was all lovely.
The hotel had a nice pool, too, so we took Marie swimming for the first time. And... she loved that, too! She was hesitant at first, but once she warmed up to it, she absolutely loved the water. We took her back the next day because she loved it so much.

The whole weekend was perfect. It was exactly what we needed--a great time with my mom and dad, wonderful new experiences for our baby girl, and a little alone time for the two of us. Perfection.
