Halloween

We're not big Halloween people, but when you find an excuse to dress up your little one in adorable baby animal costumes and it makes them so happy, well...it's fun.  And who doesn't love carving a pumpkin and roasting pumpkin seeds?

We had a pretty low-key Halloween.  The weekend before, we went to a Halloween party that our friends threw for all the kids.  They decided that the parents should dress up, too, and it was a good reminder that it can be pretty fun.  We dressed up as Old McDonald, a cow, and a baby chick.  My brother, Alex, got a pretty big kick out of being able to call me a "pregnant cow."  Brothers.

A couple days before Halloween, we went and got pumpkins.  On our way to the farm, we saw a sign at a local garden store that pumpkins of any size were only 99 cents.  So we went to the farm, rode the hay ride, let Marie pick out a pumpkin she liked, then put it back in the field and went to buy some cheap pumpkins elsewhere.  It felt very luxurious to be able to buy BIG pumpkins for such a low price.

On Halloween, Tony was able to come home a little early and we took Marie trick-or-treating in Old Town where all the businesses were giving out candy for the little ones.  It was a good introduction to trick-or-treating and Marie took it rather seriously.

The donut shop passed out donuts!

Then we went home and waited for trick-or-treaters at our own door.  This was Marie's absolute favorite part.  She LOVED handing out candy to people who came to the door.  We left her in her chicky costume and the whole thing was cute and enjoyable for all.
