Dining Room: Before and [So Far]

The dining room in this house is a bit odd because there is a back door that opens into it, making the space a little awkward.  But we've managed to make it work pretty nicely.  Like the bedrooms, the dining room had baseboard heaters that would have made furniture placement very tricky.  And like the kitchen, it had terrible lighting.  But Tony proved his handiness again and took care of all the issues himself.

BEFORE:

The house had hardwood floors already, which was great, but they had never been finished.  Note the old, ugly ceiling fan hanging too low and off-center.  Don't even pay attention to the tile on the wall in the living room...  That's for another post.  See how the half wall by the back door makes for an awkward space?

AFTER:

We love how our floors turned out.  Tony replaced that ceiling fan with a nice new one (as much as we would love to have a beautiful chandelier instead, we don't have A/C and a fan is an absolute must).  We centered the fan and table and used artwork and furniture placement to balance out the space.

Still to come: a rug for under the table, a mirror for the wall and some refinishing work on all of the furniture.
